Trouble-shooting PowerPoint (PPT) file import issues

During the extraction process, particular issues might be discovered. These will be listed next to the slide number on which they were discovered.

Too many ungrouped elements:

The maximum number of image or shape elements on a slide from PowerPoint is 20. If there are more than 20, they will be grouped into a single image. The reason for the limit is that Claro is a web application, unlike PowerPoint, and all of the images or shapes must be loaded every time the page is displayed. If there are too many elements to load, it puts an undue burden on system performance. It is not uncommon for a PowerPoint slide to have hundreds of graphic items in various objects. However, in PowerPoint, you can “group” items together and each group then behaves as a single element when it is converted by the Authoring Tool.

Externally Linked Assets:

If the PowerPoint contains a link to an external asset (such as an image) in the form of a URL (http:// …), it will not be included. External assets are considered as a security risk. It is better to download the asset and include it in the local PowerPoint file.
